Ephesians 1:18 (AMP) “[I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people).”
Who you are is not defined by race, colour, social status, education, or any other natural measurement. Your identity is determined only by Jesus and the price He paid for you at the cross. His sacrifice defines your value, and secures your future.
Romans 5:5 explains “This hope (the hope that we have in Christ) does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us”. Jeremiah 29:11 declares that God knows the plans He has for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Your destiny, your identity, and your future are not uncertain, they are firmly established on Christ Jesus and His promises.
Hebrews 8:6 tells us that Jesus is our Mediator, who has secured a better covenant for us founded on better promises, and has prepared a brighter future for us. 2 Corinthians 3 reminds us that as we behold His promises in the Word, we are transformed from glory to glory, being continually changed into His image. This means we don’t need to live in despair or fearfully forebode the future. Expecting the worst is not God’s will for you, nor the reality He has called you into. You have a living hope in Christ!
Jesus endured the cross “for the joy set before Him” (Hebrews 12:2) – and that joy was you. You were the treasure in His heart that carried Him through suffering. You are the pearl of great price (Matthew 13:45–46) for which He gave everything. The riches of His glorious inheritance is in the saints!
You carry the value that God Himself has placed on you. His Spirit now dwells within you. You are His beloved. He has purchased you, rescued you, and brought you out of darkness into His marvellous light (Colossians 1:13).
And His promises are not uncertain—they are “Yes and Amen” in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). In Jesus, God has forever said Yes to you. From the moment Jesus stepped down from heaven to earth, it was as though the Father declared: “I love you. I choose you. I will never leave you. I will never forsake you.”
May we walk boldly today in the light of this reality, You are God’s glorious inheritance!
