The Same Spirit of Faith

The Same Spirit of Faith

Key Verse
Since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.” — 2 Corinthians 4:13

Scripture Reading
2 Corinthians 4:13; Hebrews 11:1–6; Ephesians 1:17–20; Mark 10:46–52; Acts 16:25–26.

Devotional Thought
The Holy Spirit has placed within every believer the same spirit of faith that empowered the early church. It’s not a different or weaker version. The resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead now works in us and for us (Rom 8:11; Eph 1:19–20). Faith is the switch that turns that power “on” in our lives. Hebrews says, “Now faith is…” (Heb 11:1). Faith lives in the present tense. Hope expects “one day,” but faith says “today.” Faith doesn’t stare at the problem; it lays hold of the promise. It acts in alignment with God’s Word—believing first, then speaking. When what fills your heart gets on your mouth, mountains start to move.

Blind Bartimaeus shows us what this looks like (Mark 10:46–52). While others told him to be quiet, he lifted his voice—faith speaks! Jesus said, “Your faith has made you well,” and immediately he received sight. Faith has a voice, and heaven recognizes its sound. Paul and Silas sang at midnight; chains fell and doors opened suddenly (Acts 16:25–26). Praise is faith wearing a melody.

This same spirit of faith delivers us from a spectator mindset. We’re not called to watch; we’re called to participate—to build, to give, to go, to speak, to pray, to lay hands, to plant churches, to carry the Gospel. South Africa—and the nations—need believers who live “by faith” now.

Truths to Hold onto:

  • Same Spirit: The very faith of Abraham and the early disciples rests on you (2 Cor 4:13; Heb 11).
  • Present Tense: Faith acts today—it believes God is and rewards (Heb 11:6).
  • Mouth & Mountain: Until faith moves your mouth, it won’t move your mountain (Mark 11:23).
  • Praise as Warfare: Shackles don’t survive a believer’s midnight song (Acts 16:25–26).
  • Power at Work: God does “exceedingly, abundantly” according to the power at work in you (Eph 3:20).

Confession:
Father, I carry the same spirit of faith. I believe, therefore I speak.
Your resurrection power is in me and for me.
Today, not tomorrow, I receive grace, breakthrough, and fresh fire.
My mouth agrees with Your Word; my mountains move; my chains fall.
Use my life—my time, treasure, and testimony—for Your glory.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
