Light Of The World

Light Of The World

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16

Jesus calls us to be the light of the world. In fact, He didn’t merely call us to be the light of the world; He said you already ARE the light of the world. When you believe and receive Jesus, you already possess everything necessary to be the light of Christ to the world today because you possess HIM!

Many believers want to shift responsibility off themselves to share Christ’s love, generosity, and Good News with others. They want to simply stay “believers” and not become “disciples.” Jesus does not want us to merely stop at believing; He desires for us to CONFESS with our mouths and reveal with our lives that He is Lord (Rom 10:9-10; James 1:22) and that He came to die and take away our sins so that we could be free from the curse of sin and death! (Rom 8:2)

Therefore, let us yield to the process of becoming a true disciple of Jesus through fellowship with the Holy Spirit. An individual who walks like Jesus, talks like Jesus, and is as bold as Jesus was in sharing the Gospel of the kingdom with the world around them. In this way, we can shine Christ to this world and bring glory to His name.

How can you share the Good News with someone today?
