The Body of Christ – Devotional

One Body with Many Members

1 Corinthians 12:12-31 – For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. .

We are the Body of Christ. We all play our part, we have our role, and we are here to work with one another for the expansion of the Kingdom. I see the coming unification of the children of God on the earth, and it is awesome. I believe fully that God wants the Body of Christ to become the focal point of our generation. It is time that the true church rises up, united in power, portraying Jesus in His rightful glory and honor. It says in Romans 8:19 that the whole of creations waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. I believe this is the unification of His Body. Each one of us is called to play a specific role, a unique and exciting role, yet we are all called to have the same heart and mind; the mind of Christ and the heart of the Father. I think it is important to recognize what God wants to do in the earth, and from that point of view, we can no longer regard anyone according to the flesh (2 Corinthians 5:16). When we no longer see people according to the flesh, we realize that we are all family, brothers and sisters seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), and small differences in life don’t bother us so much. Religion seems to fade away as soon as one steps into the spirit and mistakes and downfalls become an opportunity for you to help each other. For us, as Christians, it is extremely important to realize that we are not here on the earth to compete with one another, or to point fingers at downfalls or weakest moments. I think it’s finally time for us to stop degrading one another, criticizing various ministries and ministry styles, and aim to uplift, encourage and build up a support system out of love. Romans 12:4-5 says “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” It is clear from this that there are always going to be various streams, but we are called to flow as one river. Regardless of small differences and insignificant doctrinal issues, we are still members of one another.

Furthermore, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 says “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. As well as Ephesians 4:12-13 which says that these callings/offices are “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ…” The New Testament paints such a clear picture of what is meant to happen on the earth, yet so many miss the prophet voice of these scriptures. God is raising up Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, and Pastors to equip the saints (all of us), for the work of ministry, until we see the manifestation of the fullness of Christ on the earth. We are not waiting for eternity to realize this picture, in eternity there would not be any need to equip saints for ministry; I believe that this is the unification of his Body so that His Kingdom becomes our reality. He wants to use every single one of us, and if we are willing to yield our wills and our lives to His, we will see this fulfillment in our generation. There is coming a time when this prophetic picture will unlock and open up to all Christians, and then we will see the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever experienced. God is ready, He is waiting for us to say yes and believe Him for everything that He has already accomplished. The time of the stagnant church is over, there will be no more sleeping in the Body of Christ, as His resurrection life is making its way into every part; every heart and soul is coming alive and there are many out there who still need to hear the truth. Now is the time for us to arise and shine, for our Light has come- Isaiah 60:1.
