Key Verse
“When He saw their faith, He said to him, ‘Man, your sins are forgiven you.’” – Luke 5:20
The Bible tells us in Luke 5 that as Jesus was teaching, “the power of the Lord was present to heal.” That same power that was with Jesus to heal, save, and deliver is still present today. When Jesus is there, the Healer is there. When Jesus is there, the Deliverer is there. When Jesus is there, the Saviour of the world is there. And when He comes, everything changes.
There was a man who was paralysed, and four of his friends carried him on a stretcher to the house where Jesus was. They had heard about the miracles, and they knew that if they could just get their friend before Jesus, he would be made whole. What faith! But when they arrived, the house was filled to capacity. Most people would have turned around and said, “Today is not my day.” But as long as there is breath in your lungs, IT IS ALWAYS YOUR DAY. It is your day of breakthrough, your day of blessing, your day of deliverance, and your day of healing.
Instead of turning around, these men looked up and saw the roof. They carried their paralysed friend to the top, made a hole large enough for him, and lowered him down before Jesus. It required effort. It required determination. James tells us that faith without works is dead. You have to put your faith into action. What God has given you right now is enough to make a decision that can change your whole life and destiny.
As their friend was lowered through the roof, the Bible says something powerful: Jesus saw their faith. The Amplified speaks of their active faith. Faith can be seen. It is not merely something we say we have; we have to live what we believe. As you work your faith, call upon His Name, and begin to believe Him, something begins to take place. You have to come to the place where you personally put your faith in the One who died for you.
Jesus looked at the paralysed man and said, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then He asked, “Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’?” Jesus turned to the man and commanded him to rise, and immediately resurrection life came into his body. He got up and began to praise God. What looked impossible to man was not difficult for Jesus.
Sometimes we look at our situation and think, “Maybe someone else can receive their breakthrough, but mine is too difficult.” No, it is not hard for Jesus. One touch from Jesus can change everything. On the cross, He paid the ultimate price for you and me. He took our sin, our shame, and our bondage, and declared, “It is finished.” Death could not hold Him down, and on the third day He rose again.
No matter what has happened in your life, what is happening in your body, or what report you have received, there is One greater than that report. Isaiah 53 declares, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities… and by His stripes we are healed.” The report of the Lord is greater than any other report.
Today, don’t allow an obstacle to make you turn around. Don’t say, “One day will be my day.” Today is your day! Put your faith into action. Call upon His Name, believe His Word, and get yourself before Jesus. The same Jesus who healed the paralysed man is alive today. He is not the great “I Was”– He is the great I AM, the ever-present God and the ever-present Healer.
